You do not need a finalised kitchen design to book a survey, but it is helpful to have at least a provisional layout from your chosen retailer so our surveyor can cross-reference it against the actual room dimensions. If significant discrepancies are found between the plan and the room, we will flag these to you and your retailer so they can be resolved before ordering. The earlier we are involved in the design process, the better the outcome for you.

Please ensure the kitchen space is accessible and that the surveyor can see all walls, including any that may be behind the existing kitchen if you are replacing an old one. It is also helpful to have a copy of your kitchen plan or order confirmation to hand, along with details of any appliances you intend to have fitted. If you have any specific concerns about the room — such as a sloping floor, an awkward corner, or a boiler that needs relocating — please mention these at the start of the survey.

Yes, the existing kitchen must be fully stripped out before we can begin fitting the new one, and this stripping-out work is included in our standard installation service at no additional charge. If there is significant remedial work to the walls, floor, or ceiling revealed after strip-out — such as damaged plaster or rotten floorboards — this will need to be addressed by a plasterer or builder before we can proceed, and we will advise you of this during the survey where possible.

While our primary expertise is in installation rather than interior design, our surveyors have fitted hundreds of kitchens and are well placed to offer practical advice on layout efficiency, appliance positioning, and common pitfalls to avoid. We are happy to review your retailer's plan and suggest amendments where we think they would improve the finished result or simplify the installation.
