A pre-installation survey is a specialist visit to your home where we check your kitchen plan against the actual room, identify any potential issues and confirm the scope of work. The £195 survey fee is credited in full against your installation balance when you confirm your booking date.
- Identifies room vs plan discrepancies before work begins — no surprises on the day
- Checks services, structural elements and access that affect installation feasibility
- Results in a sharper, fully itemised installation quote
- Survey fee of £195 is credited back against your installation balance on booking
- Recommended for all kitchen installations, regardless of retailer
Why a Survey Matters
Kitchen plans produced by retailers are drawn from the measurements you or a store designer provided. They are a starting point — not a guarantee that everything will fit perfectly in practice. Walls bow, floors slope, ceilings vary in height, and pipes are not always where you expect them to be.
A pre-installation survey is our way of catching these realities early, so that your installation day is focused on delivering a great result rather than dealing with surprises. It also means your written quote reflects exactly what the job involves — no hidden extras, no scope creep.
What the Survey Covers
- Plan vs Room Check
We compare your kitchen designer's plan with the actual room dimensions and layout. Even small discrepancies — walls out of square, ceiling heights that vary, unexpected pipes — can affect cabinet fitting. We find these before work starts.
- Services & Utilities
We identify the location of existing plumbing, electrical sockets and gas connections, and confirm where appliances will be positioned. This helps you brief your own qualified plumber, electrician and gas engineer accurately.
- Levels & Structural Condition
Floors are rarely perfectly level. We assess the floor plane and note any significant gradients that will need packing or adjustment during fitting. We also check the condition of walls where units will be fixed.
- Access & Logistics
We assess access routes into the kitchen and note anything that may affect delivery day — narrow corridors, staircases, door widths — and factor this into our planning.
- Appliance & Sink Positions
We confirm the planned positions for all integrated and freestanding appliances and the sink, cross-referencing with the available service connections.
- Risk & Scope Identification
If there are factors that may add complexity or cost — such as a chimney breast, uneven alcoves, or an unusually large room — we flag these and factor them into your quote transparently.

Survey Questions Answered
We strongly recommend a survey for every installation. It protects you by identifying issues before work begins and gives us the information we need to provide an accurate, itemised quote. It is not technically compulsory, but without one we cannot guarantee the accuracy of our pricing.
A typical survey visit takes between 45 minutes and 90 minutes depending on the size of the kitchen and how much discussion is needed. We will let you know our estimated visit time when we book.
It helps to have your kitchen retailer's plan or designer drawings available, along with any appliance specifications. If you have already had your kitchen delivered, we can also assess the boxes and note any delivery issues.
The £195 survey fee is credited against your installation balance when you confirm your installation date with a booking deposit. If you decide not to proceed after the survey, the fee is not refundable — it covers the specialist time spent on your survey and report.
We can provide a broad estimate based on a description of your kitchen, but our full written quote requires a survey visit. This protects both you and us from misunderstandings about scope and pricing.
Survey slots are typically available within one to two weeks. Contact us or fill in the form on this page and we will confirm available dates promptly.
