Labour Day Rate
Our standard installation day rate is £350 per day, inclusive of VAT. This rate covers all labour costs for a standard installation team working on your project. The number of days required depends on the size of the kitchen, the complexity of the layout, and the product being fitted — and is estimated during the pre-installation survey.
In addition to the day rate, certain projects may attract a fixed cost element for items such as worktop templating and fitting, special waste connections, or work in particularly difficult access situations. Any such additions are always itemised separately in your written quote so you can see exactly what you are paying for.
Strip-out of the existing kitchen is included in the day rate at no extra charge, covering removal of all existing cabinets, worktops, plinths, and cornices, as well as disconnection of the existing sink supply.
Survey Fee — £195, Credited Back on Booking
Every installation begins with a pre-installation survey, priced at £195. This fee covers the site visit, detailed measurement, and a written installation quote. It is carried out by an experienced fitter — not a salesperson — so you receive genuinely technical advice about your project.
The survey fee is deducted in full from your final installation invoice when you proceed with us. If you decide not to proceed after the survey, the £195 fee covers our time and is non-refundable. We are transparent about this from the outset.
The survey is the single most important step in achieving a successful kitchen installation. It is where we identify issues, confirm measurements, and establish a realistic installation plan. Skipping this step invariably leads to problems on installation day — problems that cost more to resolve than the survey fee itself.
How Retailer Choice Affects Installation Cost
Most standard rigid-carcass kitchens are priced at our base day rate. However, certain products require additional time or specialist skills that are reflected in a transparent adjustment to the base rate. The table below shows where these adjustments apply.
| Retailer / Brand | Rate Adjustment | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| IKEA | +15% | Flat-pack assembly adds time — typically 15% above standard rates due to on-site carcass building. |
| Kutchenhaus | +15% | German precision-fit cabinetry requires additional adjustment time — typically 15% above standard rates. |
| Symphony | +10% | Complex fitting requirements add approximately 10% to standard rates. |
| Masterclass | +30% | Premium hand-built cabinetry with exacting fit tolerances — typically 30% above standard rates. |
| Howdens | +5% | Trade-supplied rigid carcasses — a small premium of 5% applies for co-ordinating trade supply. |
| B&Q / Wickes | +5% | Semi-rigid and flat-pack formats attract a 5% adjustment above standard rigid-carcass rates. |
| All others | Standard rate | Wren, Magnet, Benchmarx, DIY Kitchens and most rigid-carcass formats. |
Rate adjustments are indicative. Actual adjustments are confirmed in your written quote following the survey.
What Is Not Included in the Installation Quote
Our installation quote covers the fitting of all kitchen cabinetry, doors, drawers, worktops (where supplied by us), and integrated appliances. It does not cover the following, which you will need to budget for separately:
-
The kitchen itself: Purchased directly from your chosen retailer.
-
Plumbing: Typically £300–£600 for a straightforward kitchen reconnection. You will need an independent plumber.
-
Electrical work: Typically £200–£500 for sockets, lighting, and appliance connections. You will need a Part P-certified electrician.
-
Tiling: Variable depending on the area to be tiled. Typically arranged after the worktops are fitted.
-
Appliances: We will install appliances supplied by you; the cost of the appliances themselves is not included.
-
Remedial work: If strip-out reveals damaged plaster, rotten floorboards, or other structural issues, these will require additional trades.
Cost Guide — Frequently Asked Questions
Installation costs in Coventry and the surrounding Warwickshire area typically range from around £1,800–£2,800 for a small kitchen of 8–12 units, £2,800–£4,200 for a medium kitchen of 13–20 units, and £4,200–£7,500 for a large kitchen of 21 or more units. These figures represent labour and fitting only and do not include the cost of the kitchen itself, worktops, appliances, plumbing, or electrical work. We provide a fixed price quote following your survey so you will know the exact cost before committing.
All prices quoted on this website and in our survey quotations are inclusive of VAT at the current standard rate of 20%. We are a VAT-registered business and will provide a full VAT invoice upon completion of your installation. If you require a breakdown of the net and VAT amounts for your own records, please request this from our office.
Strip-out of the existing kitchen is included within our standard installation quote at no additional charge, covering the removal of all existing cabinets, plinths, cornices, and worktops. We will also disconnect the existing sink from the water supply before the plumber makes the permanent connections. Disposal of the stripped-out kitchen is included; if you wish to retain any elements for reuse or donation, please let us know before the installation begins.
Beyond the kitchen itself and our installation fee, the most common additional costs are plumbing (typically £300–£600 for a straightforward kitchen), electrical work (£200–£500 for sockets, lighting, and appliance connections), and tiling (variable depending on area). If your walls or floor require remedial work after strip-out, there may be plastering or flooring costs to factor in. We will flag any issues we identify at the survey stage so you can budget accordingly.
Yes, we ask for a deposit of 30% of the total installation fee upon confirmation of your booking date, with the remaining 70% due on completion of the installation. The deposit secures your slot in our installation schedule and covers initial material costs. All payment terms are clearly set out in your written quote and booking confirmation.
At present we do not offer in-house finance, but we accept all major debit and credit cards, bank transfer, and cheque. Many of our clients use personal loans or 0% purchase credit cards to spread the cost of the overall kitchen project, which can be a sensible approach when balancing kitchen, worktop, appliance, and installation costs. Please speak to your bank or a financial adviser for guidance on the most appropriate borrowing option for your circumstances.
