Do Kitchen Fitters Work in the Rain?

Kitchen fitting happens entirely inside the property. Rain, wind and cold weather outdoors have no impact on the installation process. A professional kitchen fitter will arrive on time and work through their full scheduled day regardless of the weather.

What Can Be Affected by Weather

• Deliveries — if access roads are affected or delivery vehicles have delays
• Worktop template visits — no impact
• Worktop deliveries for heavy stone slabs may be postponed in extreme conditions

Practical Considerations

If your installation requires work near external openings (such as a new extractor fan duct or an external waste run), the fitter will work around weather conditions for those specific tasks but will continue with other elements of the installation in the meantime.

What Weather Genuinely Affects

Beyond deliveries, extreme cold can slow the curing time of adhesives and silicone sealant used around worktops and sinks, and very high humidity can occasionally slow the drying of any wet trades running alongside the installation, such as freshly plastered walls. None of this typically stops the core fitting work.

What About Ventilation During Installation?

Cutting worktops, especially stone, produces dust, and a fitter will usually want a window or door open for ventilation regardless of the weather outside — a bit of cold air during a cutting task is a reasonable trade-off for air quality on site.

Does an Open-Plan or Extension Kitchen Change Anything?

If your kitchen is part of an extension still open to the elements, with no windows or doors fitted yet, that's a different situation — the space isn't weathertight, and installation would typically wait until the building envelope is complete, regardless of the trade doing the work.
