What Is Kitchen Snagging and What Should Be Checked?
Kitchen snagging is the final inspection stage where every element is checked and adjusted before handover. This includes door alignment, drawer operation, handle positioning, plinth fit, worktop joints, and appliance function. Thorough snagging separates professional installation from a rushed job.
What Snagging Covers
Kitchen snagging is a systematic final inspection carried out after all installation work is complete. It covers every element of the finished kitchen: door alignment in all planes (top, bottom, side, gap consistency); drawer operation and soft-close function; handle positioning and consistency; plinth fit and scribing to the floor; cornice and pelmet alignment; worktop joints and upstand silicone; sink and appliance fit and function; and any areas of visible damage or marking caused during installation. Nothing should be left for the homeowner to discover after the fitter has left.
The Snagging Checklist
A professional snagging checklist typically covers 20–40 individual checks depending on kitchen size. Doors are opened and closed repeatedly to check hinge alignment. Drawers are fully extended and operated. Every handle is checked for consistent height and alignment. The worktop is inspected for level and joint quality. Upstands are checked for consistent silicone bead and full adhesion. Appliances are tested for basic function. The floor is checked for plinth gaps. Any fault found is corrected before the homeowner is called for handover.

Door alignment is the most frequently adjusted item at snagging. Modern concealed hinges have three-axis adjustment and allow for precise alignment — a skilled fitter can correct most alignment issues in minutes.
A thorough snagging check on a medium kitchen takes 1–3 hours. Larger kitchens or those with many appliances take longer. Snagging time is built into the installation programme — it is not an afterthought.
You can and should inspect your kitchen carefully after installation. However, snagging should primarily be carried out by the fitter before handover. Issues are far easier to address while the fitter is still on site and has all tools available.
Contact Install My Kitchen and we will arrange a return visit to correct any genuine installation issues. Our workmanship warranty covers the installation. Most minor adjustments such as door alignment can be corrected at a short return visit.
