Do Kitchen Fitters Supply Worktops?

Some fitters supply worktops; others install only. Install My Kitchen supplies and fits laminate and solid wood worktops directly. For stone worktops, we co-ordinate with a specialist stone fabricator for templating and cutting.

Laminate and Solid Wood — Supplied and Fitted

Install My Kitchen supplies and fits laminate and solid wood worktops as part of our installation service. We work with a range of laminate finishes including post-formed edges and square edges, and solid oak and hardwood options. Supplying the worktop directly means we can cut and fit on the day without waiting for a separate delivery. Laminate and solid wood worktops are measured, cut, joined, and finished to a professional standard as part of the installation programme.

Stone Worktops and the Templating Process

Quartz, granite, and other stone worktops cannot be supplied directly by a kitchen fitter — they require specialist fabrication. The process involves a templating visit after the base units are installed, during which the stone fabricator creates an exact template of your worktop area. The worktop is then cut to the template in the fabricator's workshop and returned for fitting, typically 5–10 working days later. Install My Kitchen co-ordinates this process with a trusted local stone fabricator.

Worktop Cost and What Is Included

Laminate worktops supplied and fitted by Install My Kitchen are priced per linear metre including cutting, jointing, and upstand fitting. Solid wood worktops are priced similarly. Stone worktop costs depend on the material chosen and are quoted by the fabricator. All worktop costs are itemised clearly in your installation quote following the pre-installation survey. Yes. If you have purchased a worktop separately, we can fit it as part of the installation. Confirm the material and any special requirements at the survey stage so we have the correct tools available.

The templating visit takes approximately 1–2 hours. The fabrication and return visit typically takes 5–10 working days. Installation must pause during this period — the programme is planned to account for this at the survey stage.

Laminate worktops remain the most popular choice due to cost-effectiveness and the wide range of finishes available. Quartz is increasingly popular in mid-range and premium kitchens. Solid wood is popular in traditional and shaker-style kitchens.

A well-made worktop joint on laminate or solid wood is very tight and minimally visible. Colour-matched edging strips and careful cutting technique minimise the appearance of joints. Stone worktops can be templated to minimise joints where possible.
